It is not vry much be low high watermark now Indian Trouble Feared. 'A. letter onaer date of May 27th from a gentleman at Paisley, Lake couuty, states that the Pints Indians are said to be en the war path, and the the settlers in Harney Jvalley arc "forting up." There is considerable nueasiness among the people in south eastern Oregon over ths situation, for the Indians, not numerous or strong, might raausaere a number of familien before anything could be dons in the way offjinterferencs by troops. The writer of the letter mentioned, says: ' Three Indians have been killed in tho vicinity of Burns, Grant Co. Two of them had been stealing horses, were captured and neru shot while attempt ing to escape. The third was killed on suspicion. He was in Happy valley making a tjooo many inqu'ries concern ing the number and resources of the settlers. If this be true, it is not to be wondered at that the Indians are inclined to go on the "war path." It is somewhat annoying'to be killed "on suspicion." "Ashland "Tidings."
