It was well attended, (every county being represented), and har monious in the utmost. John White- aker, of Lane, was the Chairman, and Wm. L. White, of Clackamas,- Secre tary. Stirring addresses were made by Honorables J. W. Nesmith, Ben Hayden, Geo. R. Helm and James II. Slater. A sterling platform, redun dant with excellent, resolutions, was adopted, of which the Democracy may well be proud to battle on. After the adoption of the platform, the candi dates for the Congressional nomination were named, and on the fifth ballot Hon. J. W. Nesmith, of Polk, was nominated, the ballots standing thus : j secured to this portion of the State.
