WONDERFUL EN TERPRISE.
The ; New i York Herald now
prints an edition in London, the
the first number being issued on
Saturday, February 2nd. The
total edition, of many thousand
copies, was exhausted before 10
o'clock, and the presses were start
ed again,v and tens, of thousands
more were put on the news 6tands.
The British public and the press
alike treat the1 new venture with
all kindness and courtesy, and the
Herald iareturn will treat them to
an exhibition of the American
Btyle of journalism, .including a
Sunday edition. ' A newspaper is
sued seven days i! the week is
something unheard of in England,
and a sensation, of course was
caused in the metropolis. The
Herald's London office is one of
the best equipped establishments
in Europe, and has all the con
veniences necessary to- the issuing
of a great paper. The Herald now
issues three editions simultaneous
ly in. the three great capitals of the
world, New York, London . and
Paris It has a special wire on the
British Channel submarine' line to
Farisipand y a correspondent in
every important capital of the
continent, with a large space . de
voted to news from the United
States,, as well as from other parts
of the world. The distribution
of the Sunday Herald the next
day was the great feature of the
new enterprise. Hundreds of cabs
were " employed, each of which.
carried a newsboy, and in a short
time sthe entire city was supplied
with the news. - London never saw
- anything like it, and an enormous
edition vraa "exhausted. ... The Her
ald is a great paper, and this mag
nificent venture is another evi
dence of its enterprise and of its
determination to maintain its
standing as the foremost journal of
the world.
