Attention In time to any irregularity of tlio Stomach, Liver, or Bowels may prevent serious consequences. 1 niligcstion, costiveness, headache, nau- isea, bilious- Jness, and ver- i tigo indicate certain func tional derange ments, the best remedy for which is Ayer'a Tills. Purely vege table, sugar-coated, easy to take and quick to assimilate, this is the ideal family medicine the most popular, oafe, and useful aperient in phar macy. Mrs. M. A. Brockwell, Harris, Tenn., says: -Ayer's Cathartic rills cured mo ot sick headache and my husband of ueuralgla. We think there is No Better Medicine, and have induced man; to use It. " Thlrty-ftvo years ago this Spring, I was rim down by hard work and a succession of colds, which made me so feeble that it was an effort for me to walk. 1 consulted the doetors, but kept sinking lower until I had given up all hope of ever being better. Happening to be in s store, one day. where medicines wero sold, the proprietor noticed my weak and sickly appearance, and, after few questions as to my health, recom mended mo to try Ayer's nils. I had little faith In theso or any other medicine, but coucluded, at last, to take his adTlce and try a box. Before I bad used tfcem all. I was very much better, and two boxes cured me. I am now 80 years old; but I believe that if it had not been for Ayer's Pills, I should have been In my gravo long ago. 1 buy boxes every year, which make 210 boxes ui to this time, and I would no more bo with out them than without bread." Several facti stated as to Sheriff Jack son's management of the Linn county sheriff' ofhec have not been refu'ed, sim ply because they csnnot be. He did appoint us deputy, a man who baa for years lioen a member of tho l.inn l .0 iilntniit company. which monopolizes the room In the court house; he did deposit, exclusively, the county's funds in Cowan's bink at the dictation of tho bosses, and t lie county is suffering from it now; he does stand in with the court house ring, and his nomi nation was urged by those who have held the deputysh'p so long. Would It not be well to have a change in the sheriff's office? -Herald. Well suppose he did appoint a nan as deputy, who has been a member of the Linn county ubstruct Co. Is there any thing criminal in that? The UeraM ap points a democrat for foreman of Its office. Does that inae the Herald a democratic paper? God forbid. The Herald saya "ho (Jackson) did deposit, exclusively, the county's funds in Cowan's bink." This is a willful fabrication of the truth. About two weeks prior to the suspension of the Linn county bank, Mr Jackson turned over to tho county treasurer all county funds then on bands. Of this amount, about $ti,000 was in the First National bank, ami $S,U00 in tbe Linn county bank. The books of tbe banks will how this statement to he true, and tbe Herald could easily ascertain tbe truth of this statement, if it desired to do so It started in to maliciously misrepresent Mr Jackson, and with truth and fact staring it in the face, it keeps it up, and Mr Jack son may well bone that it will continue to do so unto tbe end, for it is making vote for him every day. It ic terribly wrought up, because Mr Jackson keeps Mr Smith as bis deputy. If Mr Smith has been deputy sheriff so long, without a word ' against his acts as deputy, it only goes to show that Mr Jackson made a wise selec tion of one to do official work, for which be alone was responsible to tbe public The people care but little who i deputy j 'VIIU, I 1H !l, ll.il, 1 -1 BUUUIU l . ,. , . who will at all time do hi duty.
