She atmonat;; JTRIDAT..... ..APRIL Jt. 1871. AX0THZ2 2HTW PAETY .HOVEMEST. A few days ago a manifesto was is sued at Cincinnati, Ohio, eettin forth the principles . upon "which a. new party is to be established. It -was signed by a' long list of the promi nent and influential politicians of Cincinnati and Hamilton couiitjV and -we beliere therejjare "no ' Democrats figuring in the movement. All axe Republicans -who are disgusted wili the corruption and treachery of their own party, and are tick of its ruin ous rule and disastrous; legislation .r Ex-Secretary Cox, who some months since openly manifested ' his .disgust of Grant's infamous administration by resigning a prominent position under him, heads the list'of signa tures, and the following is a brief synopsis of the principles upon whjeh the new party base their1 movement 1. Universal amnesty The abolition of all political disabilities imposed for participation in the rebellion - 2. A Revenue Tariff The, abolition of the present unjust system of protecr Hon. 3. CivU T 1 J Service Rcform-r-No more Government patronage for party pur- . specie payments A speedy re turn to the old Democratic hard money system. . , ? '".. ... The movement in itself may not amcunt to anything tangible in the way of an organization, but it proves that there are being sown the 'seeds of discord in the Radical ranks which must eventually end in its to tal disintegration and overthrow. The principles above Bet forth are essentially Democratic and : their essence may be found in every Dem ocratic platform adopted since each f the questions have been in exist ence, and no MNew Party can hope to succeed while fighting for those principles and the same time bat tling against the party which has al ways been their champion. : If the "New Party, is honest in its profes sions of devotion to 'those great principles which it so loudly fulmi nates to the world in Ita platform; why does it not adopt the only rea sonable method of success by joining its forces with those of the Democ racy? Why does it not enroll its members with, those of the good old Democratic party the party of the peopl e which is marching to a cer tain victory with the tenets which the 2tew Party seek to steal emblazoned upon its banners sad floating from 1 its mast-head? ',, ' If the XewJParty is desirous of suc cess let it join that ntku&iastic Dem ocratic piocessio ad share in the almost certain victory f , 1$7 2. On the other hand, if it is only an orgaHi7 zaticn of - demagogues and political soreheads, ' formed for"" purposes of official ; spoliation and7 party Ven gence, let it sink back into the Radi cal mob and go down in the whirling maelstrom of popular vengence which will surely engulf that party in the near future: " - u ' !t in ',- ; 7" AE0THE2 KTJ-KLTTX OUTEAGE. . Indeed, aside from a matter of principle, we' believe that opnpsition to the mongrel tendencies of the 15th Amendment is a winning card in the Democratic hand, and will assist more than any other one plank in our plat form to secure us a victory next year. We do not , know of a ' weaker or blinder su&re'stion of policy than that '.which, seeks to ignore negro suffrage and the 15th Amendment in the Oming Presidential contest. And yet these pretended Democratic papers these , milkTand water jour nalsthose "good Lord, good devil" sort ' ot political 7, trimmers would hustle it out .of sight as though it were-a Greek; horse full of terrors to the Democratic party. ? iWe sincerely believe -Ihat it is to the indignation of the white men, all over the coun- n 'l iry. arousea oy xnis amenument Ana itspractical effects, brought home to the people of rtho whole - country, that we'' may attribute our successes in the great" State; election of. 1870 and the recent New Hampshire vic tory. The people I in those elections in stentorian tones" proclaimed their undying hostility tom'ongrel legisla tion and to the , idea that the Consti tution; of the "Unitoif States can be permanently y snsperided, -' violated and trampled on as iis by the Radical power, I, But its restoration, regener ation and perpetuation is, the object of the rising and iarming of the Dem ocratic' party from end to'end of this great country. And so' far every sign of the times points, to success and victory in the nobleefGort. u We see no obstacle to its triumph save in a want of faith in the' power of a righteous cause, and the . timidity that seeks to conquer the enemy by dipping the Democratic flag in com: pliment to' his detestable principles. ,; ; OUB WASHDrOTO UTTEEL, TVashuiotos, D. C, April 1,' 1871. !. In the Senate, yesterday, for three long and dreary hours, Senator Pooh of N. C.t who Is not a carpet-bagger, talked his talk. He denounced tho people of his section; called the Democrats hard names; and thought Holden, the im peached Governor a martyr. ; He was listened to" by the Senate as a matter of courtesy, as he virtually said nothing except woris, words, and for the good breeding of that body he promised to Inflict as many more hours of the same stuff on them at some future day. The Ku-Klux .bill was the subject of debate In the House yesterdayi as it has been for several days post. .
