It is to be hoped that th e present m arked off w hite lines on local business streets will help in getting m ore cars to th e block as has been the experience elsewhere. W hether it will be of any great help in view of the greater am ount of traffic is questionable. A num ber of Hillsboro streets are so narr w w ith park ing on both sides th at traffic flow is slowed and is hazard ous. W ith cars parked on both sides it is alm ost impossible for tw o cars to pass and in m anv cases it has been necessary for cars to back up to unravel the traffic snarl In case of a fire or police em ergency such conditions would certainly constitute a real hazard. Mrs. Meek had long taken an active in terest in th e affairs of the Na tive Sons and D aughters (form erly know n as the Pioneer association) and W ashington County H istorical Society and was last Ju lv re-elected president of the organization. It is a fine thing for Oregon and W ashington county th a t she was able to put down in w riting her know ledge of early history here before she passed on because w e of this generation and com ing generations should never be allow ed to forget the courage and sacrifice of those who blazed the trail to the O regon country. , .
