all w ith the result that schools and supporters feel th at a
victory m eans a high degree of success for the season.
W ith the game on the H ilhi gridiron here Thanksgiving
dav. fans should tu rn out enm asse to support their favor
ites.
Fans, generally, w ould greatlv appreciate it if some
m eans could be worked out bv TYY league schools to speed
up ticket sales. T here have been several occasions when
e x tra booths w ould have helped a great deal in taking care
of th e crowds so th at they w ould not have had to w ait so
long before getting in. Last F riday at Beaverton, for in
stance. m any w ere unable to get into th e field to see this
im portant game u ntil it was w ell along in th e first half.

Traffic and Parking Headaches
W ith increasing traff'C becoming a headache for every
city, big and little, parking provisions and m ethods of im
proving the flow of cars and trucks are necessarily becom
ing greater problem s for city adm inistrations.
It is to be hoped that th e present m arked off w hite lines
on local business streets will help in getting m ore cars to
th e block as has been the experience elsewhere. W hether
it will be of any great help in view of the greater am ount
of traffic is questionable.
A num ber of Hillsboro streets are so narr w w ith park
ing on both sides th at traffic flow is slowed and is hazard
ous. W ith cars parked on both sides it is alm ost impossible
for tw o cars to pass and in m anv cases it has been necessary
for cars to back up to unravel the traffic snarl In case of
a fire or police em ergency such conditions would certainly
constitute a real hazard. E ither parking should be lim ited
to one side or the streets w idened in the public interest.

tivities. Mrs. Meek had also m aintained a lively interest in
other organizations and w as a long-tim e m em ber of W ash
ington G range at Shady Brook and was a m em ber of N orth
Plains P v th ian Sisters and of the H elvetia Sunshine club.
A resident of the county for 58 years, Mrs. Meek had w it
nessed m anv changes in this section of Oregon. It is a fine
thing for Oregon and W ashington county th a t she was able
to put down in w riting her know ledge of early history here
before she passed on because w e of this generation and
com ing generations should never be allow ed to forget the
courage and sacrifice of those who blazed the trail to the
O regon country.

M rs Meek w as also outstanding as a m other, haying
reared a fam ily of 11 children to m an and womanhood.
T hat she was beloved by h er friends and neighbors was
a ttested by th e hundreds of persons in attendance at tne
funeral services.
