No serious trouble has been report ed. There was a very good attend ance at the meeting of the local Grange at the hall Saturday. Busi ness matters were taken up and a fine dinner was served *t noon. The lecturer had a short program, which was enjoyed by all present. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Snider very pleasantly entertained the following at their home on Pleasant Valley road Tuesday evening: Mr. and Mrs, J. R. Daniels, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Cutting and Miss Hazel Hales.' The evening was spent in playing "500.” Mr. and Mrs. George Snider were Portland callers Saturday. They were accompanied by their daughter. Miss Esther, who spent a day or so at her home here. Mrs. Ruby Welter of Scholls was in town Saturday, attending the ses sion of the local Grange. Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Davis enter tained a number of their friends and neighbors at a "500” party on Saturday evening. The Grange is to give a pie so cial at the hall at an early date, so watch the papers for further an nouncement. Mrs. L. S. Bierly and daughter, Mrs. Ethel McCormick, and family, who are spending the winter in Hillsboro, spent the week-end at their home here. Mrs. Walter VanKleek and daugh ter, Katherine Helen, of Beaverton were among the out-of-town people visiting around town Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Snider and son. Lester, were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Noah Snider of the Whitford district Sunday. As the result of the examinations which were taken recently at the Kinton school, the pupils passed with unusually high average, which shows that good work is being done by the instructors, D. R. Sloan and Mrs. Melvyn Vandvrmo-.t. The schol ars who took the examinations are: Frank Richards, Mabie \’mikleek. Mary Berry, Gladys Dallmann, Ivan Bierly, Bobbie Teufel, Dick 1'eufel, Dorothy Teufel. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Stevens of Sherwood were calling on friends on Cooper Mountain Sunday. William Wenzel was transacting business in Portland the first of the week. Last Wednesday was "ground hog day" but the little animal saw hi* shadow in this community. <> it is not quite time for spring work yet. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Wenzel of Portland spent the day Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. August Wenzel. Cooper Mountain. Parents and those who are inter ested in the school will want to be, present at the school house on the afternoon of February 18, Friday, at I o’clock. This is visitors day and the children are to put on a nice program, which they are prac ticing for now. The teachers are al ways very glad to have the old«r ones attend these programs, so re member the date. Mrs. Al Godfrey has been very poorly at her home on Tile Fiat road during the past week, but is improving at this writing. Mrs. J. T. VanHorn »nd Mrs. E. i L. Cox spent Tuesday in Portland. Fred West, whose mother resides in this town and who has made his home here part of the time, was married to Miss Esther Irene Snider, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Snider, at the Methodist church at Tigard Sunday. The newly married couple will make their home in Port land.
