Carstens. of Hanks, were Hillsboro visitors Saturday, enroute to the county fair. Conductor Thos. Rood, reports that travel to Tillamook has been rather light the past few weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Kood are now residing in Portland. I U Houston, in the hotel business in Portland, reports that business has been very good with him the past month. He looks for a big revival in the hotel circles of the Rose City. Born. Oct 11, 1913, to Mr. and Mrs. Samuel B. Lawrence, at Raleigh. Ore., a son. The happy parents and new arrival are now occupying the handsome new home to the north of Raleigh station, on the S. P. Alfred C. Mulloy, of Laurel, was over to the city Saturday. Mr. Mulloy was still holding his hops, even though they had raised to 25 cents the day before. He says that a number of Laur elites held through the slump, confident that the product would go to 30 cents. J. H. Ellerson. of Beaverton. who came to Oregon in 1851, when he was "just a yearling" was in town Saturday. J. H. has seen Washington county do some developing since he first settled here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Ellerson, who took up a donation, near Huber. E. W. Dant, of Reedville, brought to the city Saturday, some pears representing three crops, picked from one of his trees. The second crop was fair ly ripe, and ready for the palate, while the third would ripen in about two weeks. One of his trees bore the fourth crop a few years ago. F. M. Cady, the Beaverton merchant, will soon build an $18,000 brick structure. The building will be two stories, the lower to be occupied by stores and the upper for a hall for lodge rooms. Since the Portland, Eu gene & Eastern shops have been located there, Beaverton is rapid ly getting into the metropolitan class.
