BuBaer'iion: Una Dollar per Annum, SI Months, cts; Three Months ets. ISSUED EVERY THURSDAY BY . Long & Robinson. NOTICE The A reus office is 8itntr-d between the Wilke brick ittd the photograph gallery, on Second Street, north of Main, tat of th Court Houe. Two Eastern Oregon women eloped with one man at the same time and yet there are many peo- . pie who tell 9 there is nothing to this leap year proposition. The man in the case was penniless, while his admirers had money. And now the Wall Strvst demo crats are after Hearst and are afraid he will get the nomination. It is really too bad that these capitalists are interested in a democratic can didate. For two campaigns the other tkket Lid received their sup portand they are surely satisfied with the present administration's financial policy. And still the talk goes on that Mark Hanna is a possible candi date, but under cover, for the presi dential nomination. Getting down to business, it is apparent to any student of politics, as politics now stands, that if your Uncle Mark wants that nomination, he will get it hhat is about all there is to this affair. When Mark wants a thing he goes after it but in all likelihood he isn't after the nomi nation. Messrs. Gorman and Parker respectively of Maryland and New York, may as well pull down their nomination booms for they will not get a demcratic nomination that, will be worth anything. The democratic party, with either of these men at the helm, would not poll as many. votes as Mr. Cleve lancLdid in 1892 and he polled a greatnany less than Bryan, even in the face of Cleveland opposition and a democratic-Cleveland record.
