She has visited Foreet Orove, Dilley and Onaton. Deicliman re turned from Salem Tuesday morn ing with Julius Miller, who broke from the Washington County jail on Monday night. July 22, 1895. Miller had pleaded guilty to two charges, chicken theft and was a waiting examination on an addi tions! charge of larceny of aome bacon from the place of P. M. Jackson, near Hillsboro. Miller, with the aid of one Wm. Helm, who was held on a charge of rape, made their exit through an aper ture, 16x22, which had been cover ed with tine, and upon which the old jail stove rested. Helm was never apprehended. The captured mtn is known here aa "Cully" Miller. He was captured by Sher iff Durbin, of Marion County. A GREAT BARGAIN. R. A. Robinson, an itinerant piano and organ tuner, was Friday last, upon the plea of guilty, sentenced by Judge Smith to serve 90 days in the county jail for stealing a ham from Koch's butcher shop, while no one was about the premises. " Rob inson sold the ham to Mr. Oeisler, who resides on the Jackson bottom and who did not question the fel low's story that it was his. Robin son claimed to have been drunk when the theft wna committed, and told a pitiful story that his habits of inebriation were superinduced by his losing his wife and four chil dren in a week, from diphtheria, in a Pennsylvania town, several years aeo. He is a first class mechanic and musician, and could make good money anywhere, so his excuse is overdrawn. Of Interest to Horsemen. S. H.
