BEER AND C. are no official records of what trap shooters did previous to 1908. German, with W. R. Crosby and Fred Gilbert, are the only three trapshooters who figure in the Interstate averages for 10 consecutive years, and in this time German has a combined average of .9652 on more than 60,000 targets. Only twice In the 10 years did German fall below SS per cent. Three times has he bettered a .97 average; in fact, his laat three years have been his beat. Crosby's average for 10 years is .9632, and Gilbert for the same period has averaged .9489. Crosby once averaged better than .97 and seven times bet tered .96. Charley Spencer really haa a slightly better average than German, but he Is listed only for nine years. He didn't figure in ths 1908 averages. In the nine years ho compiled an average of .9677. Spencer was over .96 every one of the nine years, and twice he passed the 97 per cent mark. John R. Taylor has bettered a .96 average for aeven years; Homer Clark for six years, and H. D. Portland's annual Decoration day feature, the motorcycle races at the Rose City Speedway, will be given again this year. The old Portland Mo torcycle Club, which has staged the races every year and which broke up about eight months ago, bas been re organized under the name of the Rose City Motorcycle Club and every speed demon in Portland ia a member of the new club. Wyatt. held a meeting Friday night and" officially de cided to stage the annual motorcycle races at the Rose City Speedway under the auspices of the Roue City Motor cycle Club, and arrangements have been made to bring tho fastest men from all over the West to compete here on Dec oration day. May 30. Some of the speedsters who sneer at anything under a mile a minute and who will race here on May 30, are: "Dusty" Farnham, Northwest and Far Western champion of 1917; Roy Thompson, the Boise (Idaho) champion; "Shrimp" Burn, of Sacramento: Ray Day, of Tacoma: Red Cogburn, of Se attle; Ed Berrith, of Portland, and Williams, of Boise. The above riders have already writ ten, asking about the races, and as soon as they send in their entry blanks the racing committee will make arrange ments for them to ship their machines to Portland. Besides the above-mentioned riders there will be 20 or 30 Portland riders in the contests. The racing committee is also In touch with several other well- known racers. There will be an Australian pursuit race and relay event for the "rivet slingers. Every motorcyclist at any of the ship yards who wants to represent his com pany should get in touch with Fred J. The rider that passes all of the others wins the race. As soon as a rider passes the machine 'behind him has to drop out. At least eight entries are looked for from the various shipbuilding com panies. The relay race will be exactly the same as a relay race at a track meet Each shipyard, in order to compete. will enter four riders. Each rider will ride two miles before- be touches his next partner. If four companies en tered the race It would go eight miles. Members of the Rose City Motorcycle Club are trying their machines out on the speedway two nights a week and on Sundays. Umpire, Isewell. AGGIES TO LOSE ATHLETE Ralph Coleman to Attend 4th Offi cers' Training Camp May 15. OREGON AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE, Corvallis, April 20. (Special.) Ralph. O. Coleman, for three yearB track star at the Oregon Agricultural College, and captain of. the track team this season, will attend the fourth officers' training camp, which Is to start May 15. This will mean a big hole in Coach Pipal's track team for this Spring, as "Colie" is the one man on the squad who can be depended upon to make a good show ing in the meets. The meet with the University of Washington comes but three days after the opening of the training camp, and an effort will be made to have Coleman excused from the camp 'and remain in college until after this meet, Coleman is also pitcher on the base ball team, and will probably be depend ed upon to do most of the burling in the Oregon series. . Coleman is a senior in agriculture, and is a member of the Gamma Tau Beta Fraternity. He has also been commissioned as a Captain in the cadet regiment this year. At least 150 boxers, professional and amateur, will take part in the elimina tion contests to be held at Camp Lewis on May 20, 21, 23 and 24. That is the announcement that has been made by Willie Ritchie, boxing instructor, who is working out the plans with Captain T. G. Cook, athletic director of tho Ninety-first Division. The show will be held In the open air on the cantonment athletic field in front of the stands that have a seat ing capacity of 20,000 persons. The boxers will 6e divided into A and B classes. The A division will include . all men who have at any time been in the professional ring and B division will include strictly amateur boxers. These major divisions will be divided into eight classes. The weights will be lis pounds, 12a pounds, 135 pounds, 145 pounds, 155 pounds, 165 pounds, 175 pounds and ail above that poundage will be placed in the heavyweight di vision. Each man who comes through in each division will be presented with s. trophy. Some of the fastest boys on the Coast are now in the ranks at Camp Lewis, . so Ritchie expects the show to be aB class. Every man in the 91st division is taking daily boxing lessons.
