Andre Fouilhoux cottage for July. Miss Ella Hlrsch has leased the cottage for the month of August. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph H. Wilbur came down Friday night to be the house guests of Mr. and IIrs. John Lewis for a fortnight. Mrs. Wilbur's saddle horse arrived a few days ago, and she enjoys a daily ride on the beach. Mr. and Mrs. E. Fhrenbecker are es tablished In their pretty cottage for the season. C. E. Griffiths and family also ar rived the latter part of the week, and will pass the season in their cotage. The Kinney cottage houses Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Bell and children. Ensconced In the Log Cabin cottage Is Mrs. Daniel Duff, who plana to re main for the Summer. J. J. Hughes, of Spokane, and family are occupying the Westhome cottage. E. Michenc-r'a pretty cottage in the meadow la opened for the season, and will house the family. ' At Del Roy, adjoining Gearhart, L. E. Meadows and family are domiciled In their bungalow for the season. Another attractive little cottage at Del . Rey houses Mr. and Mrs. W. Leonard and family for the season. The E. B. MaeNaughtona arrived the latter part of the week for a visit of several weeks in their cottage on Ocean avenue. W. C. Nicholas also arrived, and he and family re established in their cot tage for the season. H. C. Bowera was a visitor for sev eral days last week at the Allen E. Wright cottage. J. PARTIES GAY AT XORTH BEACH Throngs of Vacationists Entertained With Varied Social Functions. LONG BEACH, Wash., July 24. '(Special.) The week has been fraught v.th gayety for residents of this sec tion of North Beach. There have been concerts, motor trips, dances, fishing parties, picnics and various other diversions Induced by the glo rious warm weather of the early week. Aa an Inevitable close to all festiv- Jties here, the bonfire played an Im portant part. Some are built early in the morning, and are piled fully 20 feet high, making a spectacular blaze at night. The little shelters built on the beach from boards, canvas and any other material available are very cosy and comfortable. Here the industrious matron or maid brings her sewing. knitting or reading, and the artistic inciuae tneir sneicn ana paint boxes; In their paraphernalia, and their in spirations are many and varied. The Ladies' Aid Society held Its meeting on Wednesday afternoon to ferfect plans for the dinner Thursday. The proceeds will eje used for the rest- room, each day growing more and more popular. Mra. Edward Charles Pape is chairman of the executive committee, and other members assist- ing her include Mrs. L. Tinker, Mrs. Jacobson, Mrs. F. Senosky, Mrs. M. XJyniff and Mrs. A. A- Dedman. Plans are being perfected for the annual bazaar to be given the latter part of August at the restroom. The grand concert given Wednesday night at the restroom under the super - vision of J. L. Mrs. Agnes Knolls was hostess on Friday night for a birthday party honoring Mrs. Howard Garnier, of Portland. The guests were bidden to an elaborate dinner, at which covers were placed for 10. and. the latter part of -the evening was devote to music and games. Mrs. Garnier's son. Stan ley Bell, came down to be with her for the celebration, and Is passing several days with her. Misses Margaret and Jewell DeLong, of Sioux City, la., are the house guests of Mrs. John Adamson. MOST SEA VIEW VISITORS REST Little Gaiety, if Any. Marks Sum mer Season at Beach Kesort. SEA VIEW. Wash., July 24. (Spe cial.) While many new arrivals come In each day, now that the day boat service has been established, little if any social gaiety has so far marked the season. True, small and Informal Dlcnlcs. motor trips and enrd parties occupy the time and attention of the younger set, as well as the dances each night in Stout's Hall, but the majority of Summer visitors are content to take a dip In the surf and pass the balance of the day reading, knitting or resting. On Wednesday Miss Florence Holmes headed a roup of 20 young people for a long walk and picnic at Balrd'a Hol low. The Phoenix Club, composed of residents alone North Beach, met Tues day night at Hackney cottage for an entertainment. The Ladies' Aid Society of Seaview gave a lawn party and bazaar Friday at the residence of Mrs. Charles Mc Ktnney In Seaview. The affair was held both afternoon and evening, and In the evening the grounds were lighted with Japanese lanterns. Dur ing the afternoon the bazaar was the main attraction. The Japanese wed ding was followed by a musical and literary programme. Refreshments were served. The motion picture theater continues to be one of the most popular attrac tions in this section of the beach. Among the recent arrivals here are Mr. and Mrs. C. T. Prlvatt and Mrs. Ida I. Carter, who returned from a visit In Seaside, where they were the guests of friends for a few days. Mrs. Charles T. Prlvatt left Friday for a short visit In Portland. ' She will be accompanied home to Seaview by her daughter. Miss Arloa, who has been passing some time in McMinnvllle and Portland. The Prlvatts are occupying their cottage "Beachcrof t," near Hol man's station. Mr. and Mra. Richard Martin recently came down, and are occupying their cottage on the Huge. The W. P. Many Summer visitors are flocking to the Breakera to enjoy the open-air concerts and Saturday night "hops." Last week, many parties were made up at Long Beach. Seaview. Tioga and way points to attend bo:h the dance and concert and the number of motor cars parked on the grounds gave the Breakers the atmosphere of a large city social function. The Punchbowl, although not so easily accessible, haa a charm for beach folks sufficient to Impel them to make the 15-mile trip from Newport.
