Parke Upshur will leave Monday next
for Porto Rico, where he has secured a

A number of young men and women en
joyed a drive to the Lewis and Clark
River Tuesday evening. The party took

Archbishop Christie has been paying his
first official -visit to Salem, and was the
guest of Rev. W. A. Daly. From here he
went to Woodburn, where he laid the corner-stone
of the new Catholic church.
T. W. Potter, superintendent of the
Chemawa Indian School, visited Salem
during the -week, as the guest of Dr. Cart
wright, at the Sanatorium. Mr. Potter is
about to make an extended tour through
Oregon, Washington and Idaho In the in
terest of the training school.
