Amanda Lamb, a criminal justice analyst, was fired last week for publicly presenting data the county said she wasn’t authorized to re- lease, county human resources officials confirmed. According to the Portland Tribune, Lamb created an interactive “dashboard” that allowed users to examine in-depth how criminal charges result in different outcomes for defendants of different eth- nicities and presented her findings publicly at a national conference in Las Vegas in October. Word of the presentations triggered backlash from District Attor- ney Rod Underhill, judges, and her county employer and she was placed on administrative leave last week before ultimately getting terminated on Friday, the Tribune reported. Last year, Lamb was laid off from the Multnomah County Sher- iff’s Office by then-Sheriff Dan Staton immediately following a re- port she completed that found disparities in how corrections deputies in the county’s jail applied use of force. Staton said the report was faulty and promised a redo of it by an outside organization, but it was never done, and Stanton resigned shortly after.
