POSITION SUMMARY The President and Chief Executive Officer of the Urban League of Portland serves as the League’s ambassador to both the public and the staff, with oversight by the Board of Directors. The President/ CEO demonstrates proven ability to lead, and inspire collaborations that support and advance the overall mission of the Urban League. A successful record of creating and maintaining strong relationships and pa rtn ersh ip with the public; local, state and national governments; corporations and media is key. The President/CEO is the administrator of the overall operations of the Urban League, working closely with a management team in guiding them in oversight of the daily operations. The President/CEO works in collaboration with the Board, staff and stakeholders in creating and communicating the organizations vision and mission, acts as the fiscal steward, and is the champion for all programs and partnerships. POSITION REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s Degree required in business administration, public/health a d m in istra tio n , ed u ca tion , so cia l w ork, hum an resources, administration finance or related discipline. Special consideration given to advanced degree. Five years relevant experience with proven success in the areas of: business administration; personnel management and development; stra tegic planning and execution; Fiscal m anagem ent and fundraising; program administration and development; Non-profit leadership on non-profit board or commission. Through conversations and spe c ial re p o rts, “A m erica a fte r Gwen Ifill Ferguson” will explore these com plex questions raised by the events in Ferguson. “The upheaval in F erguson stirred up an all too familiar stew of debate over race, justice and citi zenship," Ifill said. "It's a discus sion fueled by community outrage and resentment on all sides, but it is one that shouldn't end. Our town hall conversation will shed light rather than heat on the topic, as we seek out the voices interested in digging deeper.” ■HBM M M NH Rosa Parks Papers Shared The Library of Congress will be the new home of the Rosa Parks Collection thanks to a 10-year loan of the archives from the Howard G. Buffett Foundation. The collection comprises ap proximately 1,500 items including personal correspondence and pho tographs, autobiographical notes, letters from presidents, her Presi dential Medal of Freedom and Con gressional Gold Medal, additional honors and awards, clothing and furniture, and 200 drawings by schoolchildren and hundreds of greeting cards from individuals thanking her for her inspirational role in the civil rights movement. Items from the collection will be incorporated into the new exhibi tion “The Civil Rights Act of 1964: A Long Struggle for Freedom,” which opened this month in Wash ington, D.C. In addition, the library will digitize the documents and vi sual materials and make them widely available through its website. “Rosa Parks is an iconic figure in the American civil rights movement, the very definition of the quiet power of an individual to inspire action in others,” said James H.
