Kevin Schaffer, 51, was loading luggage into the back o f his bus at the main terminal when he was hit by another shuttle from behind. Portland police say a homeless man was stabbed while he slept Monday night outside a Little Caesar’s Pizza restaurant on North Lombard Street. About 40 firefighters from Gresham and Portland moved quickly to put the fire out and protect and save a former Police Activities League gymnasium that Friends of Children plans to remodel as it expands its services. A judge last week extended the term of the grand jury considering whether a white suburban St. Louis police officer should be charged in the August shooting death of Michael Brown, the black 18-year-old killed in Ferguson, Mo.
