Why are we fighting a war in Iraq? Why are we cleaning up Iraq? If we never went to Iraq, at this point right now, in the whole scheme of the world, Iraq, that small country, how much would it affect the whole world? Well, except for their oil. North Korea is making nuclear bombs and there are civil wars going on in Africa where thou sands of people are dying; but we have to go pursue Saddam “the tyrant” Hussein. There’s so much stupid stuff that goes on and we get it fed to us like its Gerber baby food. We take it all in and it makes people believe. Portland Observer: Hip-hop art ists, along with much of the enter tainment industry, really stepped up into a political role this election. What effect do you think that had on the scheme of things? Cool Nutz: If you think back in the history of hip-hop, it was never cool to vote because you didn’t want to be part of the system or working for the man; your vote wouldn’t count. This year, it was: vote now, vote early, you better vote, vote or die. With all the effort to get people out to vote, if every one they targeted to register actu ally voted, I find it impossible that George Bush could have won. Evi dently it also got even more repub lican people out who voted for Bush. The entire election was decided on about 3 million votes. It looks like a lot of people but it’s real ly not, considering Outkast sold close to 10 million records. If you put Outkast, Jay Z and Usher on tour to tell everyone "we need to make a change, we need to vote, vote demo cratic,” that could cause a dramatic shift in what’s going on.
