Tobin was bom in Portland and served in the 635"’ Tank Division of the U.S. Army during World War II. Upon his return in 1948, he married Frieda Mudrick and co-founded H&B Jewelry and Loan Company, Portland’s oldest pawn broker, where he continued to work until his passing. He was well known by his many new and longtime customers for his honesty and his respect for people from all walks of life. He opened a second outlet in recent years on Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and showed support for the local community. An accomplished golfer. Tobin faced discrimination in his early years when many Portland golf clubs refused to allow Jewish play- o f Living W ord M inistries, in Portland. Conference host is Pastor Level 1 Thomas.
