Cashiers should look for a watermark in the paper to help verify a check's authenticity When most brands of traveler’s checks are held up to a light source, a watermark may ap- pearas a translucent image. Most traveler’s checks also have a raised texture that you can feel with your fingertips. A fake check may feel flimsy and have a glossy appearance. Normally, the fine print or graphics on the check may ap- pearto be blurred or indistinct. Store checks can also verify a traveler's check by cal 1 ing the issuer.
