C a lle d “Joy to the W orld Daycare”, the center will strive to be sensitive to children’s social, emotional, intellectual and physi cal needs. It w ill provide a physical environment that is safe, clean, healthy and children-oriented. The center will operate with posi- tive methods o f disciplining chil dren and plans to establish consis tent, age-appropriate limits to help children function in their world. Because the church believes that parents are the most significant adults in a child’s life, the workers will strive to create mutual respect between staff and parents w i th dai ly communication between the two. Joy to the World w ill place a strong emphasis on moral develop ment and positive self-im age for children. The ninth o f 11 children, Hallman was bom Jan. 10, 1933 in Alexandria, La. to Charlie and Pollu Hallman. He is survived by his wife, Linda Hallman, whom he inetin Portland and married last year in Las Vegas; twochildren,LaRanda Hallman oflnglewood, Calif.,andEddieHallman.Jr.of „ Edward Hallman Lancaster, Calif; three step children; Stephanie Fold, Shantel Waddell and Sedric Ford; foursisters, Mildred Manning, Vera Nembhary, Jessica Lindsey, and Audrey Hunter, two brotliers, Howard Perry Hallman and Lester Hallman: eight grandchildren, a great grandson, and a host o f nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A son, Rudy Hallman preceded him in death in 1981. Dorothy Bradford Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 18 for Dorothy Bradford who died Jan. 11,2003 at the age o f 82. A native o f Lacey, Ark., Bradford was a homemaker and long-time member o f Daniels Memorial Church o f God in Christ. She had lived in the Portland area since 1960. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lucious Bradford, who died 10 years after they were married in 1971. Survivors include five daughters, Irma Robinson, Callen Harden, Julia Lambert, Dorothy Martin and Grace Ratliff; tw o sons, John Franklin and Charles Franklin; tw o step-sons, Arlington Bradford and Prentice Bradford; tw o brothers, W.L. Wayne and Charlie Wayne; and a sister, Zeophis Wayne. Funeral arrangements were under the direction o f Caldwell Colonial Chapel.
