She was bom July 16, 1914, in West Park, Pa. She moved to Portland in 1940 and was a homemaker. In 1965, she married Earl. Survivors include her husband; sister, Rose W oolsey; brother-in-law, Ransom W oolsey; sister-in-law, Gail Haus; grandchild, Joe Shidek; and one great-grandchild. Her son Robert Shidek died in 1993. Jalen Terri Mikel Benton Proverbs 8:17 Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 1,2002, in Gantenbein New Hope Missionary Baptist Church for Jalen Terri Mikel Benton, whodied Oct. 26 o f cancer at age 4. Jalen was bom Aug. 14,1998, in Portland and moved to Portland 2001. She was a student at Children’s Learning Center in Gresham. Survivors include her mother, Sherry Smith; father, Jason; sisters, Ashley Carter and Nichelle McKinney; brother, Michael McKinney III; grandparents, Felita Lyday, Gerry Smith, and Rallie and Maureen Benton; and great-grandmoth ers, Gladys Smith and Allie K. Brown.
