(AP photo) Fire Player Slowed by Injured Heel (A P ) — Portland Fire coach Linda H argrove is searching for an an sw e r to Ja c k ie S tile s ’ troubles. Stiles, the W N B A ’s rookie o f the year last season, has been slow ed by bursitis pain in her right heel through the F ire’s first eleven gam es. A t one point, Stiles even sat out four gam es to rest her heel. But since com ing back June 15th, she has only averaged seven-point-five points a gam e, far from the 15 points per gam e she averaged as a rookie last year. H argrove says that perhaps the best w ay to m axim ize S tiles’ perform ance in gam es would be to lim it her tim e practicing, thus keeping the Fire star from hav ing to use her heel m ore than necessary. In p r e p a r a tio n fo r W ednesday’s gam e against the Utah Starzz, w ho are m aking a run at the W estern Conference, Stiles only practiced lightly. H argrove, the Fire, and o f course Stiles, hope less practice equals m ore points in the game.
