School Chief Charges Go to Court (A P)— The state’s ethics com m ission last w eek form ally ac cused state School S uperinten dent Stan Bunn o f m ore than 1,400 violations o f ethics laws for allegedly m isusing a state car, cell phone and frequent-flier tickets. The Oregon Government Stan dard and Practices C om m ission made an initial finding that Bunn repeatedly violated a state law prohibiting the use o f public o f fice for private financial gain. T he case now goes to M arion County Circuit Court, w hich will w eigh the charges against Bunn. Bunn says he kept sloppy records but did not break the law. He h asn ’t said yet w hether he w ill seek re-election this year as the state’s top education official. Bunn could be fined up to $ 1,000 for each violation.
