RTA/LR 61-00: Construction of Tacoma Link Light Rail Segment T he C entral P udget Sound Regional A uthority (Sound T ransit) will receive bids until 2:00 p.m ., Seattle tim e, on A ugust 16,2000, at Sound T ransit, C ontracts D ivision, 401 S Jackson Street, Seattle, W ashington 98104-2826 for the above referenced solicitation. As soon as practicable after said tim e and date, bids properly received will be publicly opened and read in the B oard Room , located on the First Floor o f Sound T ransit's O ffices (U nion Station). Bidders accept all risks o f late delivery, regardless o f fault. A Bid B ond, certified check, o r m oney order payable to Sound Transit in the am ount o f five percent (5% ) o f the total bid price must accom pany each bid as a Bid G uaranty. The Bid G uaranty o f all bidders will be returned after S ound T ra n sit’s receipt from the successful bidder o f acceptable perform ance and paym ent bonds w hich is to take place after Sound Transit executes a contract w ith this successful bidder. Bids shall constitute offers to Sound T ransit for the w ork set forth in the IFB docum ent, and shall be binding for 120 days from the date o f bid opening. C on tractor’s perform ance and paym ent bond, issued by a surety registered w ith the W ashington State Insurance C om m issioner and a C ertificate o f Insurance are required. The penal sum o f the perform ance and paym ent bond shall be equal to 100% o f the total price o f the aw arded contract. The bond and certificate o f insurance m ust be delivered to Sound Transit w ithin fourteen (14) calendar days after Sound T ransit notification o f the aw ard to the successful bidder. B ond m ust be approved by the appropriate officials aw ard is final. A binding contract m ust be executed and returned to sound T ransit within ten (10) calendar days after notification o f C ontract award. Sound Transit reserves the right to reject any bid, any portion o f any bid and/or to reject all bids. S ound T ransit further reserves the right, but w ithout obligation, to w aive all inform alities and irregularities. The W ork o f this C ontract is to C onstruct the T acom a Link Light Rail Segment w hich includes and is not lim ited to: Construction and installation o f approx imately 1.8 miles ofem bedded track, construction o f five passenger stations, dem olition o f the 25,h Street Bridge, dem olition and reconstruction o f vaulted sidew alks; reconstruction o f streets and sidew alks; utility im provem ents, street lighting, landscaping, irrigation, and art projects; construction and w idening o f both asphalt and concrete roadw ays and parking areas, urban and design w ork, side street im provem ents, construction o f m echanical facilities including equipm ent, and use O CS/ traffic poles; trackw ork including trackslab, em bedded track, em bedded special trackw ork, rail for all m ain track; and sitework forpassenger station, parking lots, and electrical substations. The W ork w ill also include disposal o f w aste m aterial, site work, security fencing, and the coordination o f the W ork w ith other Sound Transit construction contracts.
