Highberger, a native Oregonian, originally wrote about these places in a series o f articles for The Bulletin, a daily newspaper in Bend. Although the places Highberger describes are “off the beaten track,” m ost a re n ’t very far o ff they generally can be reached by car, or with a short hike.
