W ith a bright sm ile and an outgoing, friendly p e rso n ality, James is looking for a tw o-parent fam ily, preferab ly w ith b ro th ers and sis ters. Full of energy, James enjoys skateboarding, playing with friends, and climbing trees. His teachers note James as creative and coordi nated, strong and agile. Unpredictable behav ior and under-developed cognitive abilities are a result of Fetal Alcohol syndrome. Although a handful at times, James has long periods where he is responsive and focused, and has the ability to warm the hearts of others with his wide grin and a helpful, “let me get that for you.” Oregon agencies waive or reduce fees for the adoption of Oregon’s children in state care, and pre-adoption training is offered statewide. I Z z A t XZ c 1 n i *4 Intergalactic Starmites Invade Oregon Children’s Theatre presents one public performance o f the rock musical Starm ites on Saturday, August 1 at2:00pm at the Winningstad Theatre o f the Portland Center for the Perform ing Arts. Directed by Tami Mansfield, w ith m usical d irectio n by Karl Mansfield, S tarm ites is the culmina tion ofa month long performance work shop, featuring the talents o f 14 young actors cast by audition. Written by Barry Keating and Stuart Ross, thischarmingly crazed outer space adventure was originally produced on Broadway in 1990. The musical produc tion lasts approximately 90 minutes and is recommended for children ages 7 and older. General admission is $2.00. Oregon Children’s Theatre is a non profit professional theatre company is now celebrating its eleventh season o f presentingquality stageadaptationsof the best in children’s literature. Ap proximately 100,000 students, fami lies and children attend OCT produc tions each season. Oregon Children’s Theatre’s 1998-99 season includes Pippi Longstoddng and James and the Giant Peach, both presented at Portland Civic Auditorium. In an effort to stam p out hunger, Portland Public Schools and Portland Parks and Recreation, w ill offer free federal funded lunches in over thirteen parks this sum m er. A ny child 1-18 years old is eligible for the free lunch and the cost for adults is only three dollars.
