Cyrus Chestnut Trio will perform, Wednesday, March 4, 7:30 PM, in Agnes Flanagan Chapel, Lewis & Clark College, 0615 SW Palatine Hill Road. Chestnut’s trio features bassist Steve Kirby and drummer Alvester Garnett. Tickets are $ 15 for general admis sion and $10 for senior citizens, alumni and non-Lewis & Clark stu dents. The Jazz Soci ety o f Oregon and KMHD, 89.1 FM, are co-sponsoring the performance. Chestnut, 34, launched his career with “Revelation,: his Atlantic Jazz debut in 1994 Voted 1994’s “Best Jazz Album” in an annual poll for The Village Voice. Since then, h e’s completed three albums, including “The Dark Before The Dawn,” “Earth S to ries” and his recent release “Blessed Quietness.” Each contains a few spirituals and hymns sprinkled among the straight-ahead jazz cuts.
