In the process beating teams that were ranked at the time 8,12,17. Saturday the University o f O re gon Ducks pulled off another patent ed come from behind win to beat 1-5 rival Oregon State University for State bragging rights and a trip to the Rose Bowl. The win com bined with the U.S.C. lost gave Oregon its first un contested P.A.C. 10 in its history. The game had it all, breaks both good and bad, miscues, and heroics. GRESHAM & CANBY N K P .I.L D anny B ell The state’s 4th ranked Gresham Gopher 11-0 were in for a startled surprise when they played against unranked Franklin Friday night in the second round of the State playoffs. Gresham came from behind in the second quarter, down 14-0 to beat Franklin 27-14 on their home field. Ryan Edline intercepted a pass and returned it 25 yards for a TD and then caught a screen pass and ran it for 45 yards for another T.D. with 2 minutes a 9 seconds left on the clock, in the second quarter as Gresham surged ahead for a 21-14 lead. Gresham will play Lakeridge this week in the quarter final round o f the playoffs. This is the first time Gresham has advanced this far since 1989. “These guys could call it quits any time and still have a good record but they just refuse to lose” said coach Jack Flitcraft the Gophers defeated Beaverton in the previous w eek w ith a fo u rth q u a rte r comeback."W ere all pretty- excited to still be alive in the playoffs” said Edeline. “ We haven’t been this far in a while.
