Drexler signed 13 issues o f the May 11,1992, sports Illustrated maga zine featuring D rexler and Chicago B u lls’ Michael Jordan. The two stars went head-to-head during the 1992 N B A playoffs and played together this summer on the U.S. O lym pic team. The autographed magazines were displayed at each o f 13 A V IA Clyde D rexler Fan club stations located at G.I. Joe’s stores throughout Oregon. G.I. Joe’ s is the exclusive A V IA Clyde Drexler Fan C ub headquarters. The highest bid o f the silent auc tion was $301, subm itted by W a lt Harms,, manager o f the G .I. Joe’ s Medford store. Doembecher C hildren’ s Hospital in Portland w ill receive $1,595. The pediatric unit at Sacred Heart General Hospital in Eugene w ill receive $150, and the $301 high bid w ill go to the pediatric unit at Rogue V alley Medical Center. “ Dollars like this make a real d if ference for children at Doembecher and at the other children’ s hospitals,” said John Stuart M ay, director o f the Doembecher Children’s Hospital Foun dation. “ W e’ re delighted to be associ ated w ith Clyde Drexler, A V IA and G.I. Coupons are being distributed through Subway outlets and through area churches.
