The autograph o f T rail Blazers star
Clyde Drexler netted $2,046 fo r pediat­
ric programs at three Oregon hospitals
recently.
Drexler signed 13 issues o f the
May 11,1992, sports Illustrated maga­
zine featuring D rexler and Chicago
B u lls’ Michael Jordan. The two stars
went head-to-head during the 1992
N B A playoffs and played together this
summer on the U.S. O lym pic team.
The autographed magazines were
displayed at each o f 13 A V IA Clyde
D rexler Fan club stations located at G.I.
Joe’s stores throughout Oregon. G.I.
Joe’ s is the exclusive A V IA Clyde
Drexler Fan C ub headquarters.
The highest bid o f the silent auc­
tion was $301, subm itted by W a lt
Harms,, manager o f the G .I. Joe’ s
Medford store.
Doembecher C hildren’ s Hospital
in Portland w ill receive $1,595. The
pediatric unit at Sacred Heart General
Hospital in Eugene w ill receive $150,
and the $301 high bid w ill go to the
pediatric unit at Rogue V alley Medical
Center.

ference for children at Doembecher
and at the other children’ s hospitals,”
said John Stuart M ay, director o f the
Doembecher Children’s Hospital Foun­

On August 19, 1992 at Portland
civic Stadium, the Portland Beavers
take on Vancouver, B.C. in a night
game, with proceeds to benefit Hopewell
House, a care fa c ility fo r the gravely
and term inally ill.
Co-sponsors o f the event, along
w ith the Beavers, are Subway Sand­
wiches and Oldies 106.7 F M -K M X I
Radio in Portland. Coupons are being
distributed through Subway outlets and
through area churches. They allow the
bearer to exchange the coupon for an
adult general admission ticket, on the
day o f the event, fo r the price o f $4.50
each. C hildren, accompanied by a pay­
ing adult, are free!
For each paying adult who uses a
coupon, Hopewell House w ill receive a
m inim um o f $1.00 per ticke t sold.

K M X I Radio, this September.
“ W e’ d love to see 10,000 or more
fans come to the game,” said the Rev­
erend Page. “ And remember: kids are
free w ith a paying adult!”

“ This campaign is the largest and
most important human-service fund
drive in Oregon and Southwest Wash­
ington,” said Campaign ’ 92 Chairmen
Roger Brcczley, chairman o f the board,
U.S. Bancorp.

emcee this public celebration. The
brown-bagevent w ill feature li veenter-
tainment by the Rose C ity Banjolicrs

d rill team. Other features include a
fireboat on the W illam ette R iver and
displays by many local United Way

Center.
Nearly 100 agencies in the Port-
land/Vancouver area, providing every­
thing from in-home services for the
elderly to counseling and rewarding
activities for troubled teens, w ill ben­
e fit from the fa ll campaign.
