Slated on the bill are Mel Brown and his qu artet, featuring Leroy Vinnegar, Geoff Lee and Jay Collins. Headlining the jazz portion of the evening will be the Norman-Sylvester Band. They will be joined by such notable guest artists as jazz songstresses Nancy King, Shirley Nanette and Nola Jean Bogle with Ralph Black. Blues kingpin Lloyd Jones, along with Mel Solomon, Paulette Davis and Sakiusa round out the entertainment. Paul Knauls is the special guest emcee for the event. Hot wings and barbecue ribs will spice up the evening. A no host bat will offer cold soft drinks, beer and wine. The four-hour event is a benefit for the Committee to Re-elect Commissioner Dick Bogle. Tickets are $15.00 and can be reserved by calling 282-4833. Portland Black Rep Auditions Portland Black Repertory Theatre is holding auditions for Fraternity, the first play in its 1992 season. Fraternity is written by Jeff Stetson, who is also the au th o r o f The M e etin g . R o b ert Livingston, an actor and director out of Seattle, Washington will direct. Equity and non-equity actors are needed in ages ranging from 20’s to 60’s, for seven African American men. Auditions will be held in the audi torium at Portland Community College Cascade campus, 705 N. Killingsworth from 12 noon to 8pm on Saturdays, May 9 and 16th. The production will be performed July 10 thru August 2nd at the Civic Theatre Building, 1530 SW Yamhill.
