Performance Extended by Popular Demand Beginning in 1988, tren d-se tting perform ing artists on the brink o f national prom inence w ill be spotlighted by one o f the w o rld 's forem ost elec iro nie s com panies. Sony C orporation o f America has announced the launching o f the Sony Innovators Program , recognizing talented up-and- com ing Black artists in film , television and m usic. To ide ntify the Sony Innovators, Sony is calling upon the expertise o f leading organizations and renow ned artists in the e ntertainm ent industry to screen and select em erging perform ing artists. The 1988 Sony Innovators Program w ill recognize tw o talented p erfor mers in the field o f m usic. N um erous nom inations have been received from the n atio n's m ajor recording companies. "W E ’ e interested in joining w ith the entertainm ent industry in recogniz ing not only excellence but also innovative creative expression," explained Neil Vander Dussen, president o f Sony C orporation o f A m erica.
