Resource Board Inc. (C H R B ) has been

H o using O p p o r t u n it y " g ra n t by the
U .S . D e p a rtm e n t o f H o u s in g and
U rban Developm ent ( H U D ) to study
the issues o f fair housing in the city o f
P o rtla n d , M u ltn o m a h C o u n ty and
State o f Oregon.
T he a w a rd , one o f fifte en granted
nation-wide, w ill be used to develop a
task force, representing both the public
and pnvate secton, which will examine
the barriers to equal housing o p p o r­
tu n ity and d evelo p a com prehensive
strategy plan to e lim in ate those b a r­
riers.
T h e " N e w H o riz o n s P r o g r a m ”
reflects the U .S . Department o f H ous­
ing and U rb a n D e v e lo p m e n t’ s e m ­
phasis on p u b lic /p riv a te sector sec­
tors, which will examine the barriers to
equ al housing o p p o r tu n ity a n d de-
velop a com prehensive strategy plan
to eliminate those barriers.
T he " N e w H o rizo ns P ro g ra m ” re­
flects the U .S . Departm ent o f Housing
and U rb a n D e v e lo p m e n t’ s emphasis
on public/pnvate sector cooperation in
the area o f fair housing.
" T h e N ew H o riz o n s P ro g ra m a f ­
fords us the o p p o rtu n ity to stand
back a n d ta k e a n o th e r lo o k at the
issues o f housing d iscrim in a tio n and
the housing o p p o rtu n itie s a v a ila b le
to the protected classes,” said LeR oy
Patton, C H R B chairman.
