Aug ust 29, 1983 for the purpoee of considering a grant amendment application for the Benfield Light Rail Transit (LRT) Project. Thia amendment propoeee to add purchase of 7 light rail vehicles to the 20 already funded No eddi tional funding is requested for thia project since it is covered within the funding levels established in the Full Funding Agreement for the Benfield LRT Project between Tri Met and the Urban Mesa Transportation Admmis t ration. No persons, families or businesses will be displaced by acquiring 7 addition al vehicles. The acquisition of additional vehicles does not result in any adverse impact which would require a supplemental Environmental Impact Statement. Accessibility for the elderfy and handicapped to the light rail vehicles win be provided by wayside lifts on platforms at stations and apace and tiedown arrangements within the vehicles will accommodate wheelchairs. A statement of Tri M at's proposed charter bus service is available for inspection at the Tri-M et Administration offices. Tri-M et will not be engaging in school bus operations. There will be no further direct impact on private transportation enterprise by the acquisition of 7 additional vehicles. At the hearing, Tri-M et will afford an opportunity for interested persona or agencies to be heard w ith respect to the social, economic and environmen tal aspects of the projects. Interested persona may submit orally or in writ ing, evidence and recommendations with respect to the project.
