Graham. Mrs. Lillian Bell is president. Mrs. Julia Ganter is chairman of Antique Tea. breast-feed her child is entitled to constitutional protection. Specifically, the Court held that a school board cannot prohibit a teacher from breast-feeding her child in private on school premises during a duty-free lunch hour unless the board can demonstrate that a sufficiently important state interest justifies such a prohibition. “ Breast-feeding is the most elemen tal form of parental care,” the court emphasized. Mrs. Lenore Morris il president. • In what has been hailed as a land mark decision, the U.S. Fifth C ir cuit Court of Appeals became the first court in the country to recog nize that a woman’s decision to Oregon will receive $250,000 of the $9.8 million being reallocated nationwide for the special supple mental food program for women, infants and children (W IC ) pro gram. The additional money will bring Oregon’s total o f federal funds for the W IC program to $10,435,722 for the fiscal year. (Sponsored by Am erican State Bank, B.F. Booker, President.) STEAK, IT A L IA N STYLE 2 lb chuck steak. 1'4-in thick l*m u n juice Olive or salad oil Salt, cracked black pepper Chopped parsley Place steak on rack in broiler pan Mix '/« cup lemon juice and */« cup olive oil. Brush top o f steak with some of mixture. Sprinkle lightly with salt and a few turns o f the pepper mill. Broil 3 to 4 inches from heat 15 minutes. Turn steak, brush with olive oil mixture; sprinkle with salt and pepper. Broil 12 to 15 minutes tor rare. Place on hot platter, spoon on any leftover oil m ix ture, sprinkle with chopped parsley. Slice thinly on the diagonal with sharp carving knife. Serves 6 For well done steak: sprinkle each side with unsea soned instant meat tenderizer following package direc tions; broil as above. * * ★ ★ A r . During his nomination hearings before the Senate Committee on La bor and Human Resources, Webb declared, "As a black person, I have experienced discrimination; I know the debilitating effect it can have; and I have spent a large part of my personal and professional life fight ing it. This awareness and sensitivity will assure my continued diligence as a commisssioner in the fight to eliminate employment discrimina tion whether it is against minorities, women, our senior citizens or those who are handicapped.” • Oregon ranks third in marijuana production in the country; out ranked only by California and H a waii. • The Los Angeles School Board voted unanimously to make a grade of C mandatory in order for stu dents to participate in extra-curricu lar activities. Health clinic elects board members At its 1981-82 Annual Board meeting the North/Northcast Com munity Mental Health Center, Inc., Board of Directors elected eight community people to its Hoard. Those elected were: Robert Lockwood, Robert Wright, Clifford Campbell, Jr., Mrs. Charles Per son, Olga Talley, Linda Dreyer and Avel Mayfield. Cottrell White, Jr., a member of the Board for the past three years, was re-elected. Each Di rector is elected to a three-year term.
