Pag 4 Section II Portland Observer, August 4, 1982 Exodus Presents BAMM In Concert by Caroline M iller M ultnom ah County Commissioner In my role as a C om m issioner w o rk in g w ith local agencies, one outstanding program came to my at te n tio n . A lth o u g h there were not sufficient funds to provide fo r this service through the C o u n ty, I felt that som ething had to be done to make it available. The service is one proposed by Tom and Rosalie Booth, who direct the House o f Exo dus, an excellent social service agenvy in the Albina neighborhood. M r. and Mrs. Booth have proposed to work with youth that most agen cies consider to be unemployable. They w ant to put these young people to w ork in their own neigh borhoods providing services to the elderly. This project is exciting be cause it deals with a population that we often cannot serve and it helps that population to feel that they be long in and contribute to the neigh borhood that they live in. As this service is so im p o rta n t, I have un dertaken an e ffo rt to raise funds pri vately for this proposed program. It is my pleasure to announce that two excellent groups o f performers have agreed to assist the House o f Exodus Y o u th E m p lo ym e n t P ro gram by p e rfo rm in g in a benefit co n ce rt. O bo A d d y and his jazz group, Kukrudu, w ill be performing w ith the comedy group, Bamm, on August 25th, at the Jefferson High School A uditorium . 1 would like to express my appre ciation to these artists who are do nating their time and talents as well as to the m u s ic ia n ’ s u n io n and A F T R A fo r allow ing their p a rtic i p a tio n .
