N ow , I ’ ve always know n th a t O reg on , as a state, is u niqu e, b ut to th in k th a t th e re ’ s over tw o thousand black kids playing basket ball in the state, and none arc good enough to be selected on this select team, is ridiculous. The Oregon team has done well in the past. In 1979 they placed fo u rth in the n a tio n a l to urna m en t and in 1980 im p ro v e d th e ir p o s itio n to th ird . Believe me this is quite an ac c o m p lis h m e n t when you co n sid e r th ey're not using the best players in the state.
