Oregon’s public television sta tions are joining with the Oregon State University Extension Service to present information about cor rect and safe methods of food pre servation during July and August, according to Tod Hamilton, Exten sion home economist in Multnomah County. “ Food for Later,” a seven part series, will be broadcast on the four stations o f the Oregon Public Broadcasting Service and on KSYS- T V , Medford, each Tuesday begin ning July 6 and continuing through August 17. OPBS stations will show the one- half hour programs at 3:30 p.m. Air time on the Medford station will be at 7:30 p.m . OPBS stations are K O A C -T V , Channel 7, Corvallis. K O A P-TV, Channel 10, Portland; • K V D O -T V , Channel 3, Salem, and KTVR-TV, Channel 13. LaGrande. Each program includes demon strations of food preservation tech niques and a discussion o f food safety concerns. Nellie Oehler, A l bany home economics conslutant, is hostess for the series. Carolyn Raab, OSU Extension foods and nutrition specialist, provides infor mation on food safety questions. The programs will include making jams and jellies, freezing fruits and vegetables, canning fruits and toma toes, drying fruits and vegetables, canning vegetables, making pickles and sauerkraut, canning meat and fish.
