Portland Saturday Market begins its ninth season on Saturday, A p ril 3. Over 300 craft, fo o d , and produce booths w ill set up under the Burnside Bridge in O ld Tow n to sell handm ade, homegrown goods in the M arket’ s unique style. On Saturday, A p ril 3, celebrate our opening with music by the Caribbean Superstars, a steel drum band. They’ ll play from 1-3 pm. On Sunday, A p ril 4, W holly Cats w ill play swing from 12:30-2:30 pm. Clowns w ill hand out balloons on both days, and street musicians w ill add to the festivities, as a l ways. The M arket’ s phenomenal growth and popularity in the community has made it the largest market o f its kind in the ocuntry. A ll products offered at the M a rke t are made by the seller, and over 1,000 craftspeople sell their w ork here each year. W ood w ork, glass, jewelry, pottery, clothing, and leather- w ork are among the dozens o f crafts sold. Fresh Northwest produce, Oregon wines, honey, plants, and foods from around the world are also available. The festive atmosphere is enhanced by perform ing artists o f all kinds and w ith special events, like our Cham pagne B ru n ch , held th ro u g h o u t the year.
