U n i- World Group, Inc., a New York based, Black-owned advertising agency has created an advertising and promotion program for the Heublein Corpora tio n ’ s most im p o rtan t brand. S m irn o ff Vodka. The cmpaign features a popular mixed drink Sm irnoff Vodka and grapefruit juice. The creative di rection o f the ads used the double-entendre m of ’ ’ M ain Squeeze.” a well- known Black colloquialism fo r one’s best girlfrien d , as the name o f the drink utilizing the assoication o f the grapefruit. Public response to the campaign has been exceptional. The agency has re ceived numerous calls and letters inquiring about the model. Karen Jacobs, plus unsolicited photographs and letters from readers suggesting their own " M a in Squeeze” candidates. Consequently. U niW orld saw an opportunity to capitalize on the public’s enthusiasm and created a national contest to find a new " M a in Squeeze” subject for the 1982 campaign, who would come from the ranks o f the public rather than from professional modeling agencies. 1408 N.E. The winning entrant will be selected by a panel o f distinguished judges from the w orld o f beauty fashion and related media.
