Area Advisory committee mem bers are chosen by the school board in June. The two committees advise their respective Area Superintendent and make recommendations to the school board regarding issues which come before the committees. There are two ways a person may apply for a position. The first is to gain 30 signatures on a p e tition from within the area which they will represent. The second is to be nominated by a school advisory committee in the appropriate area. In the past, the In ner-City kids were thought of as just a bunch o f run and gun kids with lots o f talent but no discipline. Hut no more. Benson, W ashington /M o nroe, Jefferson and Grant are all smooth running teams that put a special emphasis on team play. Benson, coached by Dick Gray, is the best team in the P IL and probably the State. The Tech- men have ten guys that come at you like so many Kamikaze Pilots. They are unrelentless in their attack on defense and very smooth and deliberate on offense. A. C. Green, 6-7 center is just as good or better than any big man in the State. Green has been virtually unstoppable all season. Against number one Hillsboro, the big pivot man was responsible for single handcdly getting the entire Spartan front line in foul trouble.
