Research shows that School Boards who refuse to integrate schools believing that a court order will preserve their political careers often are denounced by angry citizens who blame them for the strife and bad publicity caused by such court ac tion. Jerome Parham is a Benson High School 1978 graduate. He is atten- ing Oregon State University and is majoring in Mechanical Engineering. He played football his freshman and sophomore years, enjoyed Sciences and Math, worked part-time and maintained a B + average. Each winner has been awarded $500 toward tuition, fees, books, etc. The three sons and daughters of the late Phil Reynolds maintain the scholarship fund.
