M in is te r the Holy w rit itse lf began by announcing the divine plan and the theme of our Lord and Sa vio r, Jesus C h rist. We think of the highway that Isiah was talking about. This highway of holiness, wlien he stated that tie re would be no uncleanli ness on this highway. Itd id n ’ t only mean the men of yester day, but the men of today as w ell. As Isaiah stated, a high way shall be there and a way. And it shall be called the way of holiness. The unclean shall not pass over it but It shall be for the wayfaring men, though fools shall not e r r therein. If thou would enter into life , keep the commandment, “ be honest with th y s e lf." The key is this, Jesus said lie has left an example to r us to go by. Walk ye therein. Man has been able to cope with every prob lem of life , except the facts of coming to Jesus as he is. In the crucial state of the world today, we need to go back to the old landmark, back to th a tsa lt God has styled us as. We need to get new salt. Instead of tr y ing to use that old salt over and over when it has no savor power. Vancouver Ave. First Baptist Church 3138 N. Through our efforts of fast living, man has forgotten die necessity to 1« honest with h i m s e lf . I hrough this, we have come up with so much dishonesty In ourselves diat we look at ev eryone with a suspicious eye. We examine ourselves In our church today, and as we look over our church and see so many empty pews, we fail to be honest enough within our selves to know that without the («Ip of God, man can do noth ing within him self. We look at our way of walking, talking and fighting each other, and then we go Into the world and tell diem to come in and serve this G ul I'm serving. Tlie world is asking us a question. Is it real ly this God you are serving causing you to do some of the things you are doing? . . . causing you to say some of tie things you are saymg?God an swers that question in the Holy w rit. He styled us as the light of the world, as a man being a light that sets on a h ill that cannot be hidden, by letting His light shine leforem an. And lie styled us as salt of the world. But when salt has lost Its sa vor, it Is fit fo r nothing but to le trod under tlie foot of man. Then we have lost our saving power. But there is a key to tie problem of the spiritual society that men are doing to try to uplift the name of Jesus. That old time religion, the re ligion that James was speak ing of undefied before God and has turned us around and created In us a clean lea rt, and a right mind and renewed our s p irit, not wisdom and fo lly of this world, Put happinesswith our Lord and Savior, Jesus C h rist. " I f ye shall ask anything in my name, I w ill do it. " I f ye love me keep my com mandments." John 14:9-15. At another place He said, " V e r ily , v e rily , I say unto you. If a man keep my sayings he shall never see death.'* John 8:51. "B u t if thou w ilt enter into life , keep the command ments.’ ’ Matthew I9;l7. The Apostle Paul was in spired to say concerning Je sus: ’ 'ln H im d w e lle th th e fu ll- ness of the Godhead b o d ily." C ol. 2:9. Paul also wrote: "Though He were a Son, yet learned He obedience by the things which He suffered; ; And being made perfect. He be came the author of eternal sal vation to all them that obey H im ." Heb. 5:8-9. Apparently C hristians have not yet suffered enough to learn this great lesson. Since Jesus C h rist was the highest manifestation of God of which we have direct knowledge. His model heavenly conduct must le our constant glorious Ideal ami Goal - the model and ex ample we must continuously strive to emulate. His words of supreme excellence: the very sublime wisdom of God, the Father, given to man In the "Gospel ot the Kingdom of Gtxl,” In the Red Letters of the four Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, fo r our salva tion, transform ation andglor- flcatlon; we should by all means, and at all times, ami in every way possible, strive above all things to obey lnev- ery detail - "e v e ry jo t and t it tle " of His commandments and Instructions. His words, above all other words should he on our lips; His precepts should be our ■ rule of life; and His commands * and Instructions should be the source of ourgreat joy, and the perfect law of our lives and conduct. We must also s trn e at every moment to become the perfect example, the emulator and manifestation of the most perfect Divine Incarnation we can become. He has com manded, "B e ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in Heaven is perfect.” M an. 5:48. "And every one that is per fect shall be as his M a ste r." Luke 6:40. He said, "H e that sent me is with me, the Father hath not left me alone, because ldo al ways those things that please H im ." John 8:29. Thiswasthe secret of C h ris t’ s Infinite heavenly and earthly power. We can attain to such power only by walking in His way.By total obedience to His words and example we likewise ob tain God’ s absolute Divine protection, eternal youth and health, the joyful ecstasy of the Heavenlv life; im m ortality of the body, and Mastery over all Circumstance.
