Killuigsworth is holding the Sixth Annual Young Peo ple's A rt Competition. To qualify for entry, all p a rtic i pants should he young people hetween the ages of 16 and 30 and living in the Portland Metropolitan area. Submitted entries should have a label attached contain ing the following information: 1. T itle of work ( if any) 2. Name 3. Address and phone no. A ll paintings and drawings, collages, photographs and graphics are to be matted ex cept fo r work impossible to mat. Paintings need not be framed but must be ready to hang. A ll sculpture entries should be mounted to stand without additional support. Sculpture stands w ill be pro vided. A rtistsm a y enterthree (3) works. The Albina A rt Center agrees to exhibit at least one (I) of each a rtis t's works. Paintings can be no larger than 4* x 5’ . Adequate care and supervision w ill be given to all work. The show w ill be insured. Winners w ill be selected by a panel of judges. E ntries w ill be accepted A p ril 28, 1972 from 12 noon to 5 p jn . The exhibit w ill be open at the Albina A rt Center on May 1, 1972 and w ill remain on display until June 1, 1972. Kodaly is a unique method fo r teaching music reading in elementary schools. Banks and Alernathy are Kodaly specialists in the Seattle Pub lic Schools. They w ill be as sisted by NormanWeeks, also of tiie Seattle Public School System. Weeks also w ill head tb e ju - nior High Workshop which be gins on July 17. Weeks w ill demonstrate the application of Kodaly pr lnciples in tire devel opment of music lite ra cy. Norman Luboff, conductor and arranger of the choir bearing his name, taught at Haystack in 1970 ami is return ing by student demand. I.ubofl w ill instruct the Swing Choral Workshop from July 24 to July 29. He w ill be assisted by D r. L . Stanley Cl arum, d ire cto r of the Lewis and C lark College C hoir. 7 he final music course, also returning by student demand, is a Guitar Workshop with Ray Tate instructing.
