We oppose SB - 502. We oppose using the poors need for money as a tool to initiate se lective population control— ge nocide of the poor. We oppose this attempt to bribe the poor into giving up one of the few treasures a poor person has the priceless riches of children. We wonder if there is any hid den purpose of this bill, as ap proximately 1/3 of Oregon’s Black population is receiving Public Assistance. is this not only income geno cide but racial genocide too? We wonder about the legislator who introduced this bill — will they allow themself to be steriliz ed? We oppose the bill. Do not pass it. Elie Abel, dean of the school,1 announced last week, after near ly three months of negotiations, that the ll-week program country " F o r the first time in its four will begin June 23 for approxi mately 30 enrolles recruited from across the country. " F o r the first time in its four year history, half the summer pro- gram will be financed by two of the major networks, CBS and NBC each contributing $90,000," said Abel. This will be added to a $180,000 Ford Foundation grant, which the school has had on hand for several months. Use of those funds hinged on the agreement ot commercial net works to bear a portion of the cost that Ford previously has paid for in full. " I he significance of this is that even in times of shrinking reve nues, two of the networks have seen the need to increase the pool of trained minority talent," Abel said. The only major drawback in this year's program is that print journalism will not be offered. Officials of the program did not state the reasons why. They said about 150 applications have already teen received.
