NEW YORK, Dee. 28. Stock trading today was active and broad, a firm to strong- ton pervading every division dur ing the early and intermediate perioda A1uch of the advance, which ranaed from one to three polntta. waa canceled later, however, on the unexpected rlae of cal loans to 8"4 oer cent. Further post ponement of dividend paymente by the Pittsburg, Cincinnati, Chicago e St. Louis (Panhandle) indicated that earninga still leave much, to be desired. Miscellaneous specialties wera repre sented by textiles, namely American Woolen, duett I'eabody. Foreign exchange reacted to the more uncertain political advices from abroad, the Paris rate b. In the only allied remit tance to show firmness.
