IS Securities were unaer-severe pressure in today s very nerv ous stock market, some of the more active isuses falling to lowest quotations of the year, while many others completely effaced the material gains scored in the long-sustained bull movement which culminated two weeks ago. Liquidation was resumed at the outset, events over the double holiday, notably the Mex:ran situation and extension of labor troubies. especially the local traction strike, provoking further selling. From the character of the trading the decline was obviously assisted to a substan tial extent by heavy offerings from the shirts, who continued to press the recent sd vantage on the apparent lack of pubijc suppo-t. The reversal was comparatively moderate and held in check during the first hour, but gathered greater momentum at midday and in th later dealings, despite the unusual ease oi money, call loans show ing no discrimination for all Industrial collateral. Fitful rallies towards the close lifted ths Ht from lowest l-v;s, but the recovery in no important case wis more than a partial offset, the session closing with a weak tone. Si amounted to 1. 22.". To call a special session of the legislature for ratification of the wom an suffrage amendment in the opinion of Mrs. Charles H. C. Castner. presi dent of the Orcgron State Federation of Women's clubs, will be inadvisable, Mrs. Castner says. 'Ori-jinally I favored gretting- the leg islators together for this purpose, but when so many of them reserve the right to take up other matters, in case of an extra session, it now seems best to let the matter rest.
