Struble, secre tary of the naval base commitLeo, last night. "Our committee has known from the beginning that every member of the Oregon congressional delegation has been favorable to the first-class naval base programme, for this fact is proved by numerous letters and telegrams re ceived from Senators and Representa tives both by our committee and com mercial and other organizations and citizens otf Portland. "But. while the Oregon men have been willing, it has only been recently that they have begun to sense the fact t known to our Chairman F. C. Harley and by him communicated to our com mittee) that there is a strong favor able sentiment in Congress, both in the Senate and lipuse naval committees and among the rank and file of both houses, for the Columbia naval base measures. Assured of the correctness of its information, our naval base com mittee has been active in stirring up organizations and individual citizens of Portland to wire our delegation to act unitedly and vigorously for hearings and consideration of the Columbia River naval base measures immediate ly. The flood of telegrams that has pone to Washington has stirred our delegation to renewed action." i RHligKBIRIIIHIIRni HHUiiuHiiiiii-iii LJ mmm Let Us Serve You maa Ban BM SB nia Naval Militia Is Recruiting.
