SUNDAY 'MOVIES' OPPOSED Ungcno Drops Ordinance Draft and Initiative Maj- Be Used. EUGENE, Or, Dec. 25. (Special.) At the request ot the managers of motion-picture theaters, who had pre sented a petition for the privilege of operating on Sundays, the City Council tallowed the ordinance to die without elng passed to second reading. Strong opposition to passage of the ordinance .had developed, especially among the -churches of the city, and there was a .large delegation of citizens present to protest against the opening of the the saters on Sunday. It was announced that all the theater managers agreed in asking the with drawal of the ordinance, and that, fur thermore, they will present an ordi nance by the Initiative to be voted on att the municipal election next April.
